What is My Match?
With My Match, you can allow your invited program participants (both mentors and mentees) to browse and request possible mentoring matches.
How My Match works
Your program participants can browse other invited program participants within the Find New Matches tab. Here they can learn more about each other based off the (public) answers each participant provided when they originally filled out your sign up form. Once a participant finds a mentor or mentee they would like to connect with, they can invite that person to connect in a Loop. If the responder agrees to the match, a Loop is then created. If the responder declines the match, no Loop is created.
Find New Matches
My Match appears for users as 'Find New Matches' on the left hand sidebar. This is the tab where they can browse other participant profiles and make match requests. To understand how this will work for them, head to Preview Matching on the left hand side of your dashboard, and from here you can demo the experience.
How Match Requests are managed
Automatic reminders are sent to respondents who haven't yet accepted or declined, 7 days after the request has been made. The reminder will encourage them to respond and notify them that, in 7 days time, we will close out the request if they don't action it.
If a match request has not been responded to after 14 days, it will automatically be closed out and the requester will be notified.
Within your Settings tab, you can set a limit on the number of Pending match requests a user can make at any one time. It only applies to requests from the user, and does not include Accepted, Declined and Cancelled requests. Changing this value will not impact any currently open requests.
My Match maintenance best practice
Spare some time each month to run an eye across your My Match Activity tab and help provide a little assistance to your cohort, in the following ways:
Decline trends - Ensure people repeatedly declining for any one reason are reached out to and supported. If someone is declining repeatedly due to "no time", perhaps they should make themselves unavailable to match requests.
How to archive pending My Match requests
If you'd like to close off a pending request, head to the My Match Activity tab in your dashboard. Then, hover over the pending request in question, and click the red x that appears. You can then send an optional message to the requester (via your Program Coordinator loop) letting them know why you've made this change. Please note an email is sent to the requester letting them know the request has been closed off regardless of the optional message being sent.
Archived My Match requests can still be located by selecting 'Archived' in the filter box where the magnifying glass is, and selecting 'Archived'.
