Whether you're a mentor, mentee or both you can set goals directly from your Mentorloop dashboard.

How to set a goal

Log into Mentorloop and on your dashboard click 'Set a goal'. Alternatively, go to the 'Goals' tab on the lefthand side and click 'Create a goal'. You can also access the goals tab within your 1:1 loop.

You will then be asked the following:

  • What is your goal?

  • What tasks are required to achieve it?

  • How will you know when you've achieved it?

  • Set the date for when you'd like it to be completed by.

  • You can then choose to share the goal with any or all of your mentoring matches.

How do I edit a goal?

Click on your goal from within the Goals tab and you will see an 'Edit Goal' button. Once you have made your changes, scroll down and save it. You will be given the option to mark as complete or incomplete.

If I share a goal where will my mentor/mentee see it?

The goal will be visible to them from the Goals tab on the left hand side and within your 1:1 loop.

Can I delete a goal?

Yes, you can delete a goal from within the Goals tab.

If I delete a goal can my mentor/mentee still see it?

No, they will no longer be able to view the goal.

Do I have to share my goals?

No, you are not required to share your goals. You may be working on something which isn't relevant to your mentoring relationship. If it is something your mentor or mentee can help you work towards, we do recommend sharing it with them. This may help you to be more accountable for completing it within the set timeframe.

What happens if I don't finish it by my chosen date?

We know that things don't always go according to plan. The timeframe of your goal is simply a way to help you structure your progress over time. If you don't complete it by the date, the goal will still be there and we would recommend that at that point you extend the date or catch up with your mentoring partner to see what can be done to help you complete it.

How many tasks do I create?

You are required to create at least one task. There is no limit to the number you can create, but our recommendation is a maximum of six tasks within a goal.

How do I complete tasks?

Simply check the box beside your task.

Can the program coordinator see my goal?

Yes, your program coordinator can see your goal and your completion progress. They cannot see the tasks you've set, why you chose to set it, or how you will know when you've achieved it.

Can I have multiple goals?

Yes! You can set as many goals as you like.

Can I view completed goals?

Yes the goals you have completed are visible within the goals tab. Any completed goals shared with you are also visible there.

Go forth and kick some goals! 👟
